Over the past few days frost has made an appearance which means the winter weather has set in, putting homeless people at risk in the cold conditions.

Thousands of people are still sleeping rough despite widespread efforts to find homeless people safe accommodation at the start of lockdown in March.

Donating a coat this time of year could save someone’s life. If you are replacing your winter coat this season could you donate your old one? If it is in good condition it could help a vulnerable person stay protected and warm this winter.

Where and When can I Donate a Winter Coat?

Butler Residential will be collecting coats at our office on behalf of The 3 Pillars, a charity based in Eaton Socon, who support the homeless and most vulnerable in St Neots, Huntingdon, and Peterborough.

From 27th November to 18th December you can pop down to our office with any coat donations and we will make sure they get delivered weekly to the team at The 3 Pillars, to distribute to those in need.

Coat donations should be placed in a clean bag, tied closed. If we are out on appointments a waterproof donation box will be left outside of our office.

Our address is:

The Conservatory Village, Great North Road, Little Paxton, St Neots, Cambridgeshire PE19 6EN

Is it Safe to Donate a Coat during the Covid-19 Pandemic?

To keep the risk of spreading covid-19 to a minimum we ask that no one donates any coats if anyone in the household has symptoms or has tested positive for the virus.

Winter coats are not cheap and with thousands of people struggling to get by on lower incomes during the pandemic, it might not be an option to replace last year’s coat. You can still help by raising awareness and letting friends and family know who may have a winter coat, lurking in the back of their wardrobe they may no longer need.

We would like to say Thank you in advance for any donations, lets all try and do our bit this winter.
